Terms & Conditions

By booking a ticket or joining a KOMPPASS wild elephant observation, you agree to the terms below. Please read them before paying. They exist to keep visits safe for you, the villagers and the elephants.

Last updated: 21 October 2026

1. About the service

KOMPPASS is a village tourism group in Puncak Angin Sei Serdang, Sumber Waras, Langkat, running conservation-based observation of wild Sumatran elephants together with local partners. Activities take place in forest areas; this is not a zoo or an animal show.

2. No guarantee of sightings

The elephants are wild and move freely. We cannot guarantee that elephants will be seen on any given session. Our team guides you to the best location based on field monitoring, but not seeing elephants is not grounds for a refund as long as the activity runs as scheduled.

3. Booking, prices and payment

  • A booking is valid once payment is confirmed and the e-ticket is emailed to the address you entered. Check your spam folder and make sure the email is correct.
  • Prices are in Rupiah by guest category (Indonesian adult, Indonesian child/student aged 6–17 or school group, and international visitor) and may change at any time; the price that applies is the one when your booking is completed.
  • Session quotas are limited for the animals' comfort. Booking closes some hours before the session starts (currently 2 hours) and may change.
  • School groups above 20 people or custom schedules: please contact us first.

4. E-ticket

The e-ticket is personal, carries a QR code, and is valid once for the date and session shown. Keep the code private; a scanned ticket cannot be used again. We are not responsible for tickets misused because the holder shared them. Show your e-ticket (printed or on screen) and ID when asked.

5. Cancellation and refunds

  • Cancellation at least 2 days before the visit date: 80% of the ticket value is refunded.
  • Cancellation less than 2 days before, no-show, or arriving after the session start time: no refund.
  • Request cancellation through our official contact with your booking code. Refunds go to the original payment method within a reasonable time after approval.
  • Donations and elephant adoptions are non-refundable unless a transaction error occurred.

6. Changes by KOMPPASS

Activities may be postponed, moved or cancelled due to extreme weather, safety threats, dangerous herd movements, area authority policy, or other force majeure. In that case you may choose a replacement date at no cost or a full refund. We do not cover other costs such as transport or accommodation you have incurred.

7. Visitor ethics and safety

You must follow the instructions of guides, rangers and mahouts throughout, including:

  • do not ride or feed the elephants without a mahout's direction;
  • keep your voice low and keep the safe distance set by rangers;
  • no flash, drones or single-use plastic; take your waste home;
  • wear neutral-coloured clothes and closed shoes;
  • no alcohol or prohibited substances, and do not damage plants or wildlife.

8. Health, age and risk

The activity involves walking on forest trails near large wild animals. Participants must be in good health; tell us beforehand about any medical condition or mobility limitation. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Visitors may be removed from the activity without refund if they endanger themselves, others or the animals.

9. Limitation of liability

We run activities with reasonable safety procedures, but nature and wildlife are not fully predictable. To the extent permitted by law, KOMPPASS is not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from ignoring staff instructions, visitor negligence, or circumstances beyond our control. We recommend travel insurance. This does not limit rights that cannot be waived under consumer protection law.

10. Photos, video and content

You may take photos for personal use without flash or drones. Photos and text on this site belong to KOMPPASS or its partners and may not be used commercially without written permission. We may document activities for conservation promotion; tell your guide if you prefer not to appear.

11. Use of the site

Do not use the site for fake bookings, to bypass security verification, or to disrupt the system. We may cancel bookings showing signs of abuse.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Disputes are first sought to be settled amicably; failing that, by the competent court in Langkat Regency.

13. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the version shown on this page when your booking is made applies. Your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy. Questions can be sent through the contact below.
